All Around Town - Fun Tip #5
By Melissa Keehn
Now that the weather is cool, it is a great time to check out our great area parks. The following are three of my local favorites. Each of the parks has a really fun playground as well as numerous pavilions and picnic areas that are great for birthday parties or other gatherings.
Sugar Sand Park-Boca Raton
Sugar Sand Park consists of the three level science playground, carousel, numerous pavilions and picnic areas, basketball courts, baseball fields, a hockey rink, and an indoor gym. On a rainy day check out the Sugar Sand Science Explorium, the park's indoor science museum. The museum has permanent interactive exhibits and traveling exhibits that change regularly. Admission is free.
Villages of Hillsboro Park-Deerfield Beach
Villages of Hillsboro Park which is situated in a residential neighborhood in Deerfield Beach, consists of nearly 10 acres, and includes a playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, a sand volleyball court and hockey rink. Also located at the park is a boat dock, pavilions, picnic areas and a jogging/in-line skating trail with fitness stations.
Liberty Park-Parkland
Liberty Park is an American themed park, complete with a replica of the Statue of Liberty. The park consists of nearly 7 acres, and includes a tot lot and playground which includes a water play area. The park also has one large pavilion for picnicking in addition to two smaller pavilions for use.
You can find directions, hours, and information about these parks, as well as other local parks at the following websites: www.ci.boca-raton.fl.us
Stay tuned for Fun Tip #6 next month. Enjoy!
